You and your family deserve to have a “peak” dental experience – and Alleman Family Dental of Boulder, CO delivers! Most dentists will tell you that dental exams and cleanings are fundamental (and essential) to sustaining your oral health and the healthy, attractive appearance of your smile. However, Dr. Alleman’s onsite technologies and expertise in the latest dental innovations make a world of difference in how you feel about those treatments, as well as the level of care that you receive.
These are important points; the “standard” exam and cleaning is scheduled every six months. If these check-ups are uncomfortable, impersonal, painful, embarrassing, and otherwise unpleasant, you will not return to the dentist that provided such substandard care. Consistent dental care ensures that your mouth and interrelated structures are healthy, free of disease, decay, or other conditions that can affect how well you sleep, work, eat, and speak. If you fail to maintain routine dental visits, your oral health, overall health, wellbeing, and quality of life suffer. Yet, of course, you should not settle for anything less than the best care. And you do not have to “settle” when you partner with a team like Alleman Family Dental.
Our approach to dental exams
Every patient visit is unique. All patients should generally expect that Dr. Alleman will visually inspect your teeth, gums, and other tissues and structures. We also screen for abnormalities, such as suspicious lumps and bumps, that may warrant further investigation by an ear, nose, and throat doctor or another specialist.
What we cannot see (or feel) may be identified with our up-to-date digital X-rays. This type of imaging is associated with 80 to 90 percent less radiation exposure than traditional X-rays. It is also a comfortable alternative to the gag-inducing “bitewings” used to render images of your mouth with conventional imaging systems. Furthermore, advanced digital technologies quickly produce clear images, which aid in the accurate diagnosis that ultimately leads to effective therapies. Early detection of gum disease, tooth decay, oral cancers, and other conditions at our office is vital, as so many problems are asymptomatic or have very subtle signs in their earliest stages. Early erosion or decay, for instance, may also lurk in hidden areas that can only be pinpointed with imaging technology.
Our approach to dental cleanings
No six-month visit is complete without a cleaning by one of our professionals. Our Registered Dental Hygienists are trained in the art of using specialized instruments to remove stubborn plaque (or tartar). Hardened bacterial plaque cannot be removed with the tools that you use at home, toothbrushes, or floss. If allowed to build up, plaque can eat through the teeth and irritate the gums, eventually eroding the healthy attachment between a tooth and its supportive, gummy tissue. To resolve active periodontal (gum) disease, we also use the Solea® laser system to safely, quickly, precisely, comfortably, and non-traumatically eradicate bacteria and promote reattachment without scalpels, shots, drills, and other “conventional” sources of dental apprehension.
This provides a quick glimpse into what makes us different. Experience these differences for yourself by scheduling an appointment at our office.
